How to Acclimate Your Decking
When starting construction on a new Atlanta deck, the decking must be allowed to acclimate for several weeks in conditions similar to where your deck will be built. A completed deck will be open to the elements, and the acclimation process is what prepares the decking to handle those conditions. You would not build your deck in a garage or smother the completed thing with a tarp, so don't do that to the boards. Instead, pile your lumber outdoors with spacers in between every layer, allowing for lots of ventilation over every surface of every piece of wood. Failing to properly acclimate your wood will result in warps, buckles, and checks.
